BELGRADE Tomislav Nikolic has called on all citizens eligible to vote in the local elections in Kosovo to register in the places where they are registered as IDPs. The president on Monday urged them to exercise their right to vote in the November 3 local elections "and thus give legitimacy to the Serb institutions in the province." "Voting will give legitimacy to Serb institutions" "By participating in the local elections in Kosovo and Metohija, the Serb local self-governments will get legality and legitimacy in the eyes of international institutions, and this is the only way we can offer them proofs on the number of Serbs expelled from the southern province," Nikolic said, according to him press service. "I appeal to the wisdom and unity of our people. There is no excuse for a Serb who is proud of his origin from Kosovo and Metohija and who is interested in what will happen with Kosovo and Metohija... Neither the government nor the Serbian president can realize our goals in Kosovo and Metohija without the help of the people," the president said. "If the conditions for regular and democratic elections without discrimination are not created and if all Serbs who have the right to vote are not allowed to vote freely, Serbia will reconsider whether to participate in the elections at all," he underlined.
