BELGRADE The explanatory screening as part of the accession talks between Serbia and the EU will start in Brussels on Wednesday. A Serbian delegation led by Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic will attend. Serbian delegation to discuss Chapter 23 in Brussels Minister Without Portfolio in charge of EU integration Branko Ruzic and head of Serbia's team for the talks with the EU Tanja Miscevic will be in the delegation, the government office for media relations has stated. The meeting will refer to Chapter 23 of the talks, which is related to the judiciary, battle against corruption and basic rights, the statement says. The Serbian delegation will include officials of the Justice Ministry, Supreme Court, Public Prosecutor's Office, High Judicial Council and the National Council of Prosecutors. Members of the Anti-Corruption Agency will also be in Brussels along with officials from many other government and regulatory bodies whose participation will be relevant for the start of the talks. The screening will be an analysis of the level of harmonization of Serbia's regulations with EU standards and it consists of the explanatory and bilateral parts. The first part involves the European Commission presenting EU legislation, while the second will involve Serbia presenting the level of harmonization of its regulations with the EU ones and plans for further harmonization. The European Council decided on June 28, 2013, to open the accession talks with Serbia and for the first intergovernmental conference, which will mark the formal start of the talks, to be held no later than January 2014, the statement says. Minister Without Portfolio in charge of EU integration Branko Ružić and head of Serbia's team for the talks with the EU Tanja Miščević will be in the delegation, the government office for media relations has stated.
