Serbs unblock roads in northern Kosovo

All roads in northern Kosovo leading to the Jarinje and Brnjak administrative crossings have been unblocked.

Kosovo Serbs blocked the Pristina-Ribarice road on Friday morning and stopped vehicles of EULEX and Kosovo border police around 8:00 CET in Zubin Potok. Serbs unblock roads in northern Kosovo They moved trucks and cars that were blocking the road and reiterated that they will use all democratic means to prevent the Kosovo customs and police officers from getting to the crossings. KFOR and other international missions were allowed to go through without any problems. Northern Kosovo Serbs are opposed to the presence of Kosovo customs and police officers at the two crossings and they do not want to pay taxes and customs duties to the Kosovo institutions and request to be a part of Serbia’s tax system. They said they were confused by contradictory statements from Belgrade and Pristina and that they therefore expected the Serbian president and prime minster to receive officials of the local self-governments in northern Kosovo and explain to them what exactly had been agreed in Brussels.
