BELGRADE Implementation of an agreement on customs duty started at integrated crossings between Kosovo and central Serbia on Thursday morning. The agreement was reached between Belgrade and Pristina working groups in Brussels. Customs agreement comes into effect According to earlier announcements, the agreement was supposed to come into effect at 8:00 CET. Belgrade team head in technical talks Dejan Pavicevic explained on Wednesday that customs duties would not be paid for all non-excise goods and goods up to 3.5 tons. He said that accompanying documents would be inspected for statistical purposes. Pavicevic stressed that the deal only confirmed the agreement reached during the last round of talks between Serbian and Kosovo PMs Ivica Dacic and Hashim Thaci on December 7 in Brussels. He added that the agreement took into consideration interests of northern Kosovo Serbs and possible abuses of the free transport of goods. “If there are any obstructions on the other side, we will be ready to suspend the agreement on the integrated crossings,” Pavicevic pointed out.
