BELGRADE Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) Novi Sad Board has stated that there is no majority necessary for the change of ruling structures in the city. Serbia’s PM Ivica Dacic has announced a meeting with Vojvodina Executive Council President Bojan Pajtic. "Political crisis in Vojvodina is getting more complex" League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV) resigned as National Decentralization Council president on Thursday over the state’s attitude toward Vojvodina. Hungarian Foreign Ministry’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zsolt Nemeth also said on Thursday that it was important for Serbian government to respect Vojvodina’s autonomy and rights. Center for Regionalism Director Aleksandar Popov told B92 Radio that the political crisis in Vojvodina had started with a decision of the Constitutional Court of Serbia to declare parts of the law on Vojvodina’s jurisdiction unconstitutional. “The new impact came on top of it, and this is the wish of the ruling coalition on the republic level to topple the authorities in some towns in Vojvodina, including Novi Sad, which has contributed to nervousness. I think it is only contributes to the building of the crisis and shows the ruling majority’s level of arrogance that we have already seen in the previous government and it cost them the election,” he explained. According to him, a possible way out of the difficult situation in Vojvodina is to stop the arrogance. Popov noted that the current ruling coalition in Novi Sad would have a thin majority even without the SPS and that the ruling structure cannot be changed easily. “When it comes to the situation in general between Novi Sad and Belgrade, i.e. Vojvodina and Serbia, I think that a political dialogue is necessary and to look for solution, first regarding the law on transfer of authorities,” he concluded.
