Dragan Sutanovac says two Kosovo police, KPS, members, arrested over the weekend after they crossed the administrative line, committed a violation. The two persons, carrying weapons and other equipment, were detained near the Merdare checkpoint by members of the Serbian MUP's Gendarmerie unit. Defense minister comments on administrative line arrests The defense minister made the comment on Monday while he toured the Serbian Army's Special Brigade, based in Pancevo, north of Belgrade. He told reporters that the Defense Ministry "had no information about whether KFOR (NATO troops in Kosovo) had information about that". "The very fact that they (KPS members) found themselves in the territory of central Serbia, and that the police reacted the way they did, says they had committed a violation," the minister was quoted as saying. He also added that the Serbian authorities "will be taking further measures related to the case". "I expect a quality outcome to this incident," Sutanovac continued, and added, "just as I expect that members of our police force who are working in this (central) part of Serbia will not be arrested, because they in no way compromise the security in Kosovo and Metohija." MUP's Gendarmes captured the two KPS members on Saturday morning, and seized two automatic rifles, two pistols, and special distance-measuring equipment. Officials of the Kosovo Albanian authorities in Pristina reacted to the arrests by saying the KPS members were "kidnapped" by MUP's Gendarmes deployed along the administrative line between Kosovo and central Serbia.
