Former Croatian prime minister Ivo Sanader was remanded in custody on Monday in Austria for another two months. Sanader was arrested December 10 in Austria on a Croatian warrant for abuse of office and criminal association. Open issues still need to be checked, Feichtinger explained. Sanader was arrested on December 10 last year on the Tauern Autobahn highway on an international warrant issued by Croatia and has been in custody pending extradition. Sanader, who believes political motives were behind his arrest, did not agree to be extradited to Croatia, claiming his lawyers were not allowed access to his case file in Croatia. Ex-Croat PM remanded in custody

Spokeswoman for the state prosecutor's office Barbara Feichtinger said that the judge in Salzburg, where Sanader has been imprisoned since his arrest, decided the former prime minister is a flight risk and remanded him in custody while also postponing extradition proceedings until further notice.

Open issues still need to be checked, Feichtinger explained.

Sanader was arrested on December 10 last year on the Tauern Autobahn highway on an international warrant issued by Croatia and has been in custody pending extradition.

Sanader, who believes political motives were behind his arrest, did not agree to be extradited to Croatia, claiming his lawyers were not allowed access to his case file in Croatia.
