Novi Pazar police have arrested eight members of a smuggling ring from Novi Pazar and Tutin.

Novi Pazar police have arrested eight members of a smuggling ring from Novi Pazar and Tutin. In arresting this group, the police have broken a channel for vehicle and arms smuggling. The group contains one police officer from Kosovska Mitrovica. Police bust Sandzak smuggling ring Novi Pazar Police Chief Dragan Terzic released the names of the suspects captured in the last three days: Selim N. (59) from Delimedje in the municipality of Tutin, his son Adem N. (25), together with Azem N. (22), Admir V. (20), Nusret P. (42), Almir F. (23) and Zekrija L. (49), all from Novi Pazar, while the policeman in question is Jovan J. (32). According to Terzic, police found two hand grenades and 30 rifle rounds at the house of Selim N., who has been charged with illegal possession of weaponry and explosive materials, while a Golf 5 stolen on September 11 was also discovered near his house. A number of articles and documentation from stolen vehicles were found in Adem N.’s room. The police chief said that Azem N. And Admir V., who stole cars, had been arrested on Saturday night on suspicion of armed robbery. The next day, police arrested Nusret P. And Alimr F. for carrying an unlicensed revolver. The two men had also stolen a Passat with foreign number plates. Nusret P. is accused of illegal possession of arms and explosive material and armed robbery, while Almir F. of illegal possession of arms and explosive material. Terzic said that police had found a number of sets of car keys and vehicle documentation at the home of Zekrija L. yesterday, as well as several blank driving licenses. Zekrija L. has been charged with complicity to armed robbery. He bought stolen cars in the regions of Novi Pazar, Sjenica and Tutin on a number of occasions. Head of the Criminal Police Department Jasmin Dustinac said that this group was one of the most organized when it came to vehicle theft, and that the arrests were the fruit of several months of police work. Dustinac said that intensive work was also under way on identifying the remaining group members that had stolen cars in Novi Pazar, Sjenica and Tutin, before selling them on, mainly in Kosovo. He said that the vehicles have mainly been stolen “in the dead of night“, between 01.00 and 05.00, and that the group had chiefly targeted cars with foreign number plates. The suspects have been remanded in custody for 48 hours.
