Beta news agency on Thursday asked for MUP protection in the wake of several incidents. The Belgrade-based agency said in a statement that it is requesting the MUP Belgrade Department to react to participants of the pro-Karadzic demonstrations entering its offices. News agency wants police protection Beta says members of the organizations Obraz and 1389, during protests on the streets of Belgrade, have on several occasions entered its offices uninvited, leaving behind their statement, but also photographing and filming editors and journalists. Although there have not been any incidents during their time spent in Beta's offices, the fact that they have freely, and without being invited, entered the offices where our work is conducted by on-duty journalists, with the message that Beta is a "yellow agency" and that it is contributing to "media darkness," is causing a lot of fear and journalists to feel threatened, the agency says. At the same time as Obraz and 1389 Movement members have entered the building housing the agency, demonstrators have chanted protest slogans regarding Beta's reporting style outside its offices.
