Belgrade's dailies focus today on Troika representative Wolfgang Ischinger's plan for "neutral status". Also featuring is the latest on Patriarch Pavle's health, and the damning report on the state of Serbia's psychiatric health institutions. Press: "Neutral status", health institutions report BLIC – The paper leads with “Report into conditions at psychiatric institutions“, under which we hear that “Horror: Children tied up and tortured like in camp“. Bishop Amfilohije says “I’m not after Patriarch’s job“. “Hygiene Directors’ safes full of foreign currency“ refers to the money laundering scandal. BORBA – “Neutral status for Kosovo“ concerns the Troika’s proposal due to be presented at the next round of Kosovo talks. According to “Dinkic declares war“, trade unions are unhappy with the economy minister’s proposal for free distribution of public enterprise shares. VECERNJE NOVOSTI – ”Bread prices up, electricity waiting” says that bakeries have already decided on price hikes, while Elektroprivreda Srbije (the Serbian Electricity Company) is awaiting approval. Kosovo Minister Slobodan Samardzic says of the new Kosovo proposal, ”Neutrality won’t work”. The daily also talks of “the first heart operation on a conscious patient” under the banner, “Eye to eye with one’s heart”. DANAS – The report on conditions in psychiatric institutions is assessed in “Torture as treatment”. “Moscow could deploy rockets in Belarus” warns Russian general, Vladimir Zariski. “Most complaints over judiciary” reviews the first 100 days of the work of citizens’ rights protector, Sasa Jankovic. POLITIKA – “Troika proposal on Kosovo contains no mention of status” claims that a proposal is being worked out among senior Washington officials for Belgrade-Pristina cooperation, without any mention of the province’s status.
