"Important day for Serbia's international standing"

"Seeing as our media used to raise this issue often, how Serbia would be accepted, it is the biggest impression of the first day, that we received praise from all the EU countries and the US, but also from all the countries locked in a conflict, which means they trust us," he explained.

Serbia's chief motto is to regain trust, without which it cannot do much, Dacic said at a reception in Vienna held after the meeting on Thursday.

There is a lot of work before Serbia, and this day is very important for the country's international position, he pointed out.

Following the OSCE tradition, Serbia, as the new chair of the organisation, organised a reception for all the diplomats in the OSCE at the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna.

Every country at the start of its presidency organizes a reception to present the country's culture to the other members.

The invitation of Dacic and Serbian Ambassador to the OSCE Vuk Zugic was accepted by diplomatic representatives of the member states, Secretariat staff and heads of mission.

Welcoming the guests, Dacic said that OSCE relies on three dimensions, and that the fourth one needs to be introduced referring to social connections, namely making personal and interstate friendships.

At the start of its presidency, Serbia "organized a performance by ethno jazz band Ognjen and Friends," Tanjug said in its report.
