Belgrade gay Pride Parade scheduled for September Civil Rights Defenders Regional Director and one of the organizers Goran Miletic told B92 that the organizers expected meetings with Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, First Deputy PM Aleksandar Vucic, Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic and Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas soon. “This means that police have enough time to prepare Pride 2013 with us so there will be no surprises and arguments that we started the preparations too late,” he explained. When asked if he expected stronger support of the authorities this year, Miletic said that certain institutions and ministers already supported the gay parade. “However, when it comes to Pride Parade, everything always depends on one or two people in the state and I seems to me that it will be the case this year as well,” he stressed. When asked if he believed that the parade would be held this year, he said that he did. “There will be many events that will be better and I believe everything will go without incidents. As far as the march itself is concerned, this is something we cannot do without the police’s help and I hope the authorities, the prime minster and the first deputy prime minister will realize that this is Serbia’s international obligation and an obligation in accordance with the Constitution and that it will finally be honored,” Miletic concluded.
