Serbs awarded for genocide

She said that Serbs were awarded for their genocide with the establishment of the Republic of Srpska. Žbanić told a daily in Prague that nationalism still runs rampant in the countries of the former Yugoslavia.

“Imagine if the Germans received a small territory after the Second World War in which Nazis could walk freely while the Jews would be afraid to enter. That is the Republic of Srpska. The main source of frustration in post-war Bosnia-Herzegovina lies in the fact that war criminals have not been punished, and that the political parties are promoting nationalism. It is now the 21st century, and we are living like sheep, in our separate flocks. We are allowed to vote only within our nationalities, I, for example, cannot vote for a Serbian party, or for a Croatian candidate. In television you must have a representative fro every nation in your team, so a Serbian director, for example, must have a Croatian assistant and a Muslim producer.” Žbanić said.

“I cannot come to terms with the fact that Emir Kusturica allowed a Serbian television station to finance him while it was propagating fascism. I cannot get over that, I cannot believe that you can think that you can accept the devil’s money and that it will not show in your film where the money came from,” she said.
