The "peace" camp, meanwhile, is made up of the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo (LDK), the New Kosovo Alliance (AKR), and the Alternative Initiative.

Previously, LDK leader Isa Mustafa managed to convince AKR leader Behgjet Pacolli to join his pre-election coalition, in this way seriously threatening PDK's dominance.

Kadri Veseli-led PDK, out of fear of losing the status of the leading party in Kosovo, late last night decided to join forces with the AAK and the Initiative for Kosovo, and accept AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj as the coalition's candidate for prime minister.

Judging by the results of the previous elections, this coalition, along with nine minor parties, would have about 100,000 votes more than the competition. Beta said that "analysts assess" they are sure to win the June 11 ballot.

The Self-Determination Movement, meanwhile, has not joined any pre-election coalitions.

Before becoming Kosovo's president, Hashim Thaci was the leader of the PDK, a party now in coalition with Haradinaj.
