Serbia is heading towards its strategic goal of EU membership, head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport said in the Serbian parliament Thursday.

To maintain "this positive momentum," it is important that Serbia intensify its efforts to carry out implementation of reforms, he said, announcing that EC officials would come to Belgrade in early October to discuss with the Serbian authorities the 91 interim benchmarks related to negotiation chapters 23 and 24 in the EU accession talks."The EU is also very appreciative of Serbia's handling of the refugee crisis and pro-activeness in joining EU efforts to address the situation. The EU's commitment to enlargement policy and Serbia's EU integration path is firm," Davenport said.
