She added that the first sitting of the provincial assembly in Vojvodina was scheduled for June 2.

Asked why the exact date depended on the Progressives' party assembly, Gojkovic said that the first meeting of the National Assembly "is not merely about verifying mandates (of MPs), but also about electing the president and their deputy."

"The ruling majority should put forward its candidates for these posts, and there have not yet been such proposals. A broader agreement between the ruling majority and the opposition on who will perform these duties is also needed," said Gojkovic.
