DSS ends campaign, focuses on "political neutrality"

Koštunica addressed the gathering at Belgrade's Sava Center hall to say that the party will stand for election with the proposal of the new state policy, as up to this points the state policy dealt only with further EU integration, forgetting Serbia's development.

"This policy subjected the interests of Serbia to the interests of the EU," Koštunica said, stressing that Serbia should cooperate with the EU and other states, but not to its detriment.

Therefore, Serbia's EU entry is not a national interest, he said, adding that the EU encouraged secessionists in Kosovo and Metohija to declare an independent state, then recognized the independence of that territory, sent EULEX to Kosovo, and finally forced "the servile leadership to negotiate good neighborly relations."

The DSS leader repeated the essence of the party's program- the economy of political neutrality and not squandering of Serbian land, military neutrality and not NATO membership.

Vladeta Janković, one of the founders of the DSS, said that the party will strive to ensure that citizens be the one to decide about their future - by means of a referendum on the country's EU entry.

DSS Vice-President Nenad Popović noted that the party is the only that presented a concrete, economic and political program, and underlined that there is no economic growth while the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) is being implemented.

According to him, Serbia lost EUR 2 billion in the last six years, which is equal to the loss of 300,000 jobs.

Popović added that Serbia is the only country in the world that has a free trade agreement with Russia, and promised that the DSS, when it comes to power, will open an office for cooperation with the Russian Federation, "which will help the entire economy export more."

DSS Vice President Borko Ilić said that the DSS will win so as to protect Serbian farmers and Serbian villages.

"There will be no sale of land to foreigners. Only the vote for the DSS guarantees that the Serbian land will remain Serbian," Ilić concluded.
