Deputy PM meets with Belarus counterpart Addressing a joint news conference after the meeting in the Serbian government building, Vucic expressed the belief that there are several pieces of good news for citizens of Serbia and Belarus. Vucic specified that his talks with Prokopovich covered the cooperation between Serbian company Prva Petoletka with Belarus company Amkodor and underscored that Belarus should soon provide the final offer for joint operations. According to him, the same is valid in case of company 14 Oktobar, and the talks also covered accelerated cooperation between companies MAZ and FAP. We are trying to resolve major problems in Serbia and remove the issues that cost Serbia millions of euros annually while the number of employees is dropping, Vucic said and added that the goal is to employ as many people as possible. One of the topics of the talks covered the search for a solution to the issue of the Smederevo Steel Plant which needs a strategic partner. Vucic expressed the hope that the solution to the problem would be found soon. As he said, the talks with Prokopovich also covered cooperation in the sector of agricultural machines Belarus is famous for. Vucic also established that the two countries share good political ties and recalled that Belarus supports Serbia's stand when it comes to Kosovo's unilaterally declared independence, and that Serbia is grateful for the support. They also agreed to realise a number of projects in Belarus which will entail opening of jobs in Belarus and Serbia, Prokopovich said after the meeting with the Serbian government delegation headed by Vucic. Prokopovich said that Serbia and Belarus have very good prospects for cooperation, primarily in economy. The value of exchange between Serbia and Belarus in 2012 totalled USD 150 million which is a rather small sum, Prokopovich said. According to him, the two countries' task is to increase this figure in the future. Prokopovich said that the visit of the Belarus delegation to Serbia marks the beginning of realisation of projects defined during the visit of Serbian president Tomislav Nikolic to Belarus in March. Prokopovich noted that opening of joint companies in Serbia and Belarus is very promising. Belarus sees Serbia as a possibility to be represented both in Serbia and in the Balkans and perhaps even as a window to Europe, Prokopovich said. He noted that the two countries' cooperation would offer a chance for Serbian companies and businessmen to enter the entire Eurasian market through Russia. The Belarus delegation in Belgrade includes 40 members, and the country will present its offer at the 80th International Agriculture Fair in Novi Sad. (Tanjug) Tanjug
