BELGRADE First Deputy PM and Defense Minister Aleksandar Vucic says "everything that will happen regarding the issue of Kosovo will be painful for Serbia". Vucic announced a series of diplomatic meetings for the next two week "that will largely determine the course of events". Series of meetings "to determine course of events" After meeting with Italian Defense Minister Giampaolo Di Paola at the Palace of Serbia, the Serbian official stated he would soon be meeting with Serbs in northern Kosovo and those who live south of the Ibar River in order to consider the possibility to fulfill all the obligations that the previous government undertook. This should happen "while at the same time preserving our national interests and continuing the process of European integration", he noted. Vucic added that Serbia was very concerned about the possible development of events after the Hague Tribunal delivers its verdict to Ramush Haradinaj, and also regarding the marking of Albanian Flag Day, which is underway, and that for this reason, Serbia "will do everything so that these events pass peacefully and within a democratic framework". The minister also said that it was necessary "for the other side to invest the same effort". "A lot of what is important for Serbia will happen in the next two weeks. Our job is to try to make the most we can for our country and the people and lose the least of what we have. That, I would say, is the best definition of our job," Vucic stated. The minister noted that Serbia, through its diplomatic activities, was trying to gain the support of the EU, Russia and the United States to reach "a reasonable solution". He specified that such a "reasonable solution" would be an agreement that would envisage concessions from both sides, rather than just from Belgrade. Vucic declined to give any details about the upcoming meeting with the Deputy Assistant U.S.Secretary of State Philip Reeker, since he "does not like being out in public with details of talks, unless there was an agreement with the interlocutor".
