Kosovo president pledges peace in north

Newly-appointed Kosovo President Behgjet Pacolli stated in Kosovska Mitrovica on Saturday that his mandate would be marked by order and peace in north Kosovo. During his first official visit to Kosovska Mitrovica, he said that he did not discriminate between the north and the south when it came to politics and administration. Kosovo president pledges peace in north Pacolli visited southern part of the city where he conferred with municipal leadership and Kosovo Interior Minister Bajram Rexhepi. The Kosovo president said that Kosovo authorities would fight against all criminal groups which were preventing citizens of southern Kosovska Mitrovica from leading a normal life and promised that in the future, no one would be allowed to point fingers at any of the citizens, regardless of their ethnicity, because they were a part of Kosovo and they had the support and commitment of Kosovo institutions. Pacolli did not specify whether the divided Kosovska Mitrovica and northern Kosovo would be one of the topics of the forthcoming Belgrade-Pristina talks. Behgjet Pacolli (Tanjug, file)
