It's expected that the financial investigation against Darko Saric will include some politicians, Justice Ministry State Secretary Slobodan Homen told B92. He said that there was consent in the government to get to "go all the way" in the investigation against the suspected cocaine smuggler and his associates. Politicians also probed in Saric case Just like Prosecutor for Organized Crime Miljko Radisavljevic, Homen believes that, "unless there are those protected", the financial part of the investigation will inevitably lead to politicians who helped the suspect build one of the most powerful criminal gangs in the region. “It’s not realistic to expect to have politicians who transported drugs. But it is very realistic to expect that certain holders of political positions or representatives of certain parties are subjects to the financial investigation. We’re talking about a classic case of corruption here, in other words, money laundering,” he pointed out. “Members of criminal groups are most affected by the adoption of the Law on Seizure of Property,” the state secretary said and added that 25 assets owned by Saric’s group members had been seized so far, but that the operation continues. “The biggest seizure so far of two large hotels in Novi Sad is expected by the end of the week,” he said and added that the financial investigation would show which companies had been bought with the suspect’s money. Homen warned that the situation in Serbia had never been more dangerous "when it came to security of the country and organized crime", and added that this was the reason to inform the public about plans of criminal groups to execute attacks on the president, the justice minister, the prosecutor for organized crime and the state secretary himself.
