Serb leaders in northern Kosovo have announced that a petition signing will be organized next week calling for EULEX to leave Kosovo. Vice President of the assembly of the community of Serbian municipalities, Marko Jaksic, said that Serbs in northern Kosovo expect the support of Belgrade in this action. Kosovo Serb leaders call for anti-EULEX petition Jaksic said that this is a very painful issue for Kosovo Serbs, along with the fact that Serbia “supports the introduction of a regular border between Serbia and Kosovo” in order to have visas abolished for travel throughout the European Union. “That is the introduction of a real border between Serbia proper and Kosovo. And all the talk that this is being done to stop smuggling and criminal activities is not true. This is a part of the ‘road map’ which has the goal of separating Kosovo from Serbia, and that is the price of visa liberalization,” Jaksic said. Kosovo Albanians are also against the Serbian Interior Ministry signing an agreement with EULEX, which is why EULEX Chief Yves de Kermabon held a meeting with Kosovo Albanians recently where he assured them that the agreement was not part of the so called six-point plan which Belgrade insists on being implemented.
