Serbian and Macedonian FMs Vuk Jeremic and Antonio Miloshoski say the naming of a new Macedonian ambassador to Serbia should help increase cooperation. “Last year was not easy for relations between the two countries—Belgrade and Skopje do not have the same stance on the future status of Kosovo, and, unfortunately, there is no way of changing these stances,” Jeremic told reporters after meeting with his Macedonian counterpart. Serbian, Macedonian FMs meet “We must concentrate on what links us, not what divides us,” he added. “That is more difficult for Serbia than Macedonia, but we are ready to do our utmost, and, I think that in this sense, there is much to gain from naming a new Macedonian ambassador to Belgrade. We eagerly await the arrival of and cooperation with the new ambassador,” Jeremic said. The Serbian foreign minister reiterated that “Serbia and Macedonia are next-door neighbors, and naturally lean on one another.” “We share the same vision of the Western Balkans, and that is a vision of integrating the Balkans into the European Union and that will not change,” Jeremic underlined. Miloshoski said that bilateral relations between the two countries were “entering a new phase of unity and restoration of diplomatic relations” at ambassador level. “It is no secret that we have certain differences relating to the region, but it is good that these differences can open productive dialogue. And it is good that these joint goals are greater than the differences between us,” he said.
