A new member, dubbed, Zajedno za Sumadiju (Together for Sumadija), has on Saturday joined Serbia's crowded political party scene. According to announcements from Kragujevac, the new party will advocate decentralization of Serbia, the country's economic revival, and urgent inclusion in Euro-Atlantic integrations. New party to push for "decentralization" The initiative to form the party came several years ago from Kragujevac Mayor Veroljub Stevanovic, who was today elected its leader. As 460 delegates from 15 municipalities met for the founding congress today, they adopted the party program, manifesto, statute and elected party leadership. All this, under the slogan, "Sumadija in the middle of the world". Sumadija is Serbia's central region. Center-right parties have been invited to attend as guests, and according to organizers, a representative of Germany's SDU was expected in Kragujevac today, while U.S. Ambassador to Belgrade Cameron Munter, "and the British Conservatives", have sent letters of support. Officials from Italy's embassy in Belgrade were also expected to attend, as was Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, of the ruling SPS, and officials from two other ruling parties, G17 Plus and the Sandzak Democratic Party (DSP).
