Hungarian visas to be valid in 2008

The Hungarian General Consul in Serbia says that Hungarian visas will continue to be valid in the next year. Ferenc Nagy told Novi Sad daily Dnevnik that these visas given to Serbian citizens still count for entrance and stays in Hungary only, and that citizens who receive a Schengen visa starting January 1, 2008 will lose the Hungarian visa automatically. Hungarian visas to be valid in 2008 “When someone receives a Schengen visa after January 1, 2008, they will not only be able to enter the country in which the visa was issued, but all of the 24 member countries of the European Union as well,” Nagy said. He said that Schengen document, which takes effect in January, is similar to the current “type C” visa, which is valid for a year and enables two stays of a maximum of 90 days each. Nagy said that it is convenient that the EU and Serbia have signed an agreement for visa relaxations, stating that Serbia citizens will have an easier time entering countries that are included in the Schengen agreement.
