Off-duty cop disarms man holding hand grenade
An off-duty police officer in the town of Temerin in northern Serbia has disarmed a man who was in the street, holding a hand grenade.
The Novi Sad-based website 021.rs reported on Monday that the suspect is 45-year-old B.S., from Zitiste, also a town in the Vojvodina province.
The policeman reacted after a citizen reported that a man was holding a hand grenade.
A police patrol arrived soon after and took the suspect into custody. Beside the M75 hand grenade, he had two knives in his possession.
B.S., who will be detained for up to 48 hours, will be charged and taken before a public prosecutor for questioning.
