The Spanish police are currently analyzing human remains found in a river in Madrid in order to determine if they belonged to Zemun Clan gangster Milan Jurisic. Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic heard this from his visiting Spanish counterpart Jorge Fernadez Diaz, said reports on Thursday. Remains found believed to be of Zemun gangester Juris has been on the run since the 2003 assassination of Zoran Djindjic. He was tried in absentia in Belgrade as a member of a group of conspirators, and found guilty and sentenced to 30 years in prison. "I expect that as the investigation of the Spanish police continues, the possible murder of Jurisic will also be solved, which would put an end to the Zemun Clan and the mystery of whether any of them are still alive," Dacic said in Belgrade today. The Spanish media are reporting in the meantime that the police learned about the location of the body from a letter found in the apartment of another Zemun Clan member, Luka Bojovic, who was recently arrested in that country. EL Pais daily writes that the letter, written in Serbian, stated that Jurisic was murdered after an altercation with Bojovic, and that the two fell out "over a woman". The author of the letter describes the grisly nature of the killing and the disposal of the body, saying that Jurisic was killed with a hammer, after which his body was "minced in a machine", while the remains were dumped in a river. Police sources also said that there was mention of "some body parts being eaten", while a meat grinder used to dispose of the body was later destroyed. The Zemun Clan gangsters, according to this report, "spent the next five days" cleaning the premises where the murder took place. According to previous media reports, the gang's hitman Sretko Kalinic - now in custody in Belgrade - made a statement confessing to the murder of both Jurisic, and another gang member on the run, Ninoslav Konstantinovic. Croatia's Nacional newspaper wrote at the time Kalinic was arrested in Croatia in 2010 that he had confessed to killing Jurisic, and that he later "literally dismembered him" and put the body parts through a meat grinder, to then dispose of the remains in a river. Kalinic also said he murdered Konstantinovic in Serbia, and that his remains were buried near the Belgrade-Zagreb highway. Despite these statements, Konstantinovic remains the only member of the Zemun Clan with an active Interpol arrest warrant out against him. The media in Spain are now writing that the local police are "already certain" that the remains found in a Madrid river were indeed those of Milan Jurisic, but are waiting for official forensic confirmation. Experts will compare DNA samples taken from several hundred bone fragments with those provided by Jurisic's close family members, that are expected to be sent by the Serbian police. The remains were recovered from on Wednesday. A part of a meat grinder was also found, said reports. Milan Jurisic (Interpol, file) B92
