BELGRADE The head of the government's office for the media says that only the outlines of a future, reshuffled government are "discernible" at this point. For this reason, Milivoje Mihajlovic told Serbia's public broadcaster RTS, it is possible that a parliament session to confirm the new cabinet may be postponed for August 28 or 30. Parliament session on reshuffle could be postponed As previously announced, the session devoted to the reconstruction was expected on August 26. Mihajlovic said that the law on ministries was "not hard to do" and could be produced "within a day or two," - but that the harder to question to answer was - how many ministries the cabinet would have, as well as "the orientation" of the government. "Negotiations are ongoing with many people, only the outlines of a future reconstructed government are discernible," said Mihajlovic. Merging sectors and some ministries, separating "some new responsibilities," will show the orientation of the government, he explained. According to this official, "until now the orientation was political - Kosovo and the EU, and economic," but that now the economy took precedence. Mihajlovic said that it was still unknown if there would be one Ministry of Economy and Finance, if the portfolios would be separated, or otherwise "recomposed." Asked about the possible engagement and the role of former Chancellor of Austria Alfred Gusenbauer, Mihajlovic said that the authorities were talking with "several reputable people who can help Serbia on its European path in the field of the economy." Mihajlovic said that people with strong relationships and a strong influence, who know the economic situation, "can only help to rebuild Serbia's broken economic ties with the world and to attract foreign investment." The most important task of the Serbian government is to ensure economic stability and financial security and the future minister of finance will not have an easy job, but it will be much tougher for the economy minister - should that be a separate sector, said Mihajlovic. According to him, "belt-tightening" and re-industrialization of the country are " two key tasks for raising the economy, which means employing people, strengthening state functions, because political issues will not be solved without a strong economy."
