BELGRADE The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has stated that Prime Minister Ivica Dacic's government is repeating mistakes of the previous government. The party also warned that the new government had failed to offer a concrete solution for the pressing economic problems. LDP says new government is repeating old mistakes The LDP said in a released that the new government’s character and principles it was formed on, without a clear plan and vision, confirmed that Serbia was facing a “copy of (former PM) Mirko Cvetkovic’s government “which barely survived the last four years”. “Demagogic and populist promises of twice as big agricultural budget, employment of citizens by digging a channel to Thessaloniki and social justice were forgotten the day the elections finished,” the party stressed. The LDP added that despite promises that party officials would not be appointed to every important position in the country, it was announced that a party member would be a new National Bank of Serbia (NBS) governor. It also stressed that the new government had not offered any reform measure aimed at improving the situation in Serbia. The party warned that every postponement of reforms could lead Serbia into a more difficult and complicated position. “The new government’s first duty is to say the truth why Serbia is the way that it is today, to point to causes of the bad situation and then to offer a clear order of moves in order to secure a safer and better future for all citizens,” the LDP noted. The party pointed out that Serbia was today one of the poorest countries in Europe, not because its citizens did not want to work or because they were incompetent but because of the wrong policy. “We need to change this policy as soon as possible, but unfortunately all announcements of the new authorities show that they are no ready for something like that,” the LDP concluded.
