SNS party leader and presidential candidate Tomislav Nikolic says he supports Serbia's future EU membership, but notes that the country "has two doors". One leads to the east, while the other to the west, the opposition leader told his supporters in the Belgrade suburb of Baric on Friday. "We won't anger EU unless faced with impossible conditions" "Serbia must never forget to cooperate with the Russian Federation. We're far too small to denounce such a huge partner," said Nikolic. The Progressives, he continued, "will do nothing to anger EU - unless the EU wishes to reject us by setting impossible conditions before us": "There are conditions that the people cannot accept. There is Kosovo and Metohija, which is Serbian, and Serbian it must remain." Nikolic promised his supporters who welcomed him at the entrance to the Prva Iskra factory in Baric that Boris Tadic "will never again be Serbia's president" and accused the DS leader, who yesterday resigned as the country's president in order to force early presidential elections, of serving his party more than his country during his tenure. "The 200,000 workers they employed and those who received EUR 1,000 from free shares can vote for them," he said, alluding to the DS-led coalition's campaign promises made ahead of the 2008 elections. "People who wish for life in Serbia to be better can vote for us, and we are certain to win," he added. Nikolic also campaigned in Obrenovac and in Belgrade's Savski Venac municipality this Friday. His message focused on future investments that he said would be "the imperative" for the next government that he expects will include the SNS. Nikolic stressed the need to create a favorable business climate that will offer legal security to future investors. "We must eliminate corruption by adopting a new law on public procurement," the SNS leader said, and announced his party would work to open an office designed to cut red tape and speed up legal procedures for future investors.
