Around a hundred people blocked on Wednesday for the second day the Kosovska Mitrovica-Leposavic road at the village of Rudare, near Zvecan. The protest ended without incidents, with Kosovo police (KPS) and EULEX at the scene. Serbs block road in northern Kosovo Secretary General of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce Slavisa Stanic told Tanjug that the protest will continue on Thursday, because the local Serbs do not want regional traffic units patrolling the area and refuse to pay customs to the so-called state of Kosovo. "The road block is a warning to the regional police and the special unit of the Kosovo police that they cannot operate in northern Kosovo, because they not only control but want to take our businessmen to the customs terminal in south (Kosovska) Mitrovica," Stanic said. He said the protesters delivered their demands to EULEX on Tuesday, but still have not received a response. Another half-hour block is planned for Thursday, and on Friday the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce will organize a rally in Zubin Potok. The protests are organized over the recent arrests of businessmen from Zubin Potok, illegal privatization and the establishment of customs and tax control by the so-called state of Kosovo, as well the establishment of a regional traffic police and a special unit of the Kosovo police.
