Prime minister continues visit to Kuwait

Serbia and Kuwait have excellent political relations, but the economic cooperation between the two countries should be improved, PM Mirko Cvetković says.

Serbia and Kuwait have excellent political relations, but the economic cooperation between the two countries should be improved, PM Mirko Cvetkovic says. His comments came after meeting with Kuwaiti top political and economic officials. Prime minister continues visit to Kuwait Cvetkovic said that he had thanked the Kuwaiti officials for not recognizing the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, thereby helping to defend Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty. "We agreed that our bilateral relations are excellent, but that they should be further improved in the economic department," said Cvetkovic. The conclusions from a meeting at the Kuwaiti Chamber of Commerce state that the trade between the two countries is very low and needs improving, but also that something should be done to attract Kuwaiti investors to come to Serbia, Cvetkovic noted. According to Cvetkovic, the economic discussions will be continued on Tuesday. Cvetkovic met with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Nasser Al-Sabah, Parliament Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi, Chamber of Commerce Chairman Ali Mohammed Thunayan Al-Ghanim and General Director of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development Abdulwahab Al-Bader. Serbia's Minister of Trade and Services Slobodan Milosavljevic and Labor and Social Policy Minister Rasim Ljajic accompany the prime minister on this visit.
