Coalition survives, no "new president" for Kosovo

The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) said that its coalition with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) is still valid, despite reports that it had collapsed. The two parties are led by Hashim Thaci and Fatmir Sejdiu, respectively. Coalition survives, no "new president" for Kosovo Beta news agency said late on Thursday that it received unofficial confirmation of the split from PDK. In Kosovo, local TV outlet RTK reported, citing a high PDK official in the Kosovo Albanian government, that this party reached agreement to enter a coalition with the New Kosovo Alliance, led by Behgjet Pacolli, and Nedzad Daci's Democratic Alliance of Dardania. That would have made Daci president of the Kosovo assembly, and Paccoli "new president of Kosovo", instead of Sejdiu. According to Beta, the reason for the coalition's reported collapse was an agreement reached between LDK and Ramush Haradinaj's Alliance for the Future of Kosovo to collaborate in the second round of the local elections.
