Members of the Serbian Army (VS) were today in Novi Sad demonstrating their skills in an exercise dubbed Sretenje 2009. 736 officers, NCOs and soldiers were taking part in the exercise staged to mark the Statehood and Army Day – Feb. 15, which is also the Serb Orthodox Church holiday of Sretenje (Candlemas). President Boris Tadic, Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac, Acting VS Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Miloje Miletic, other state officials and foreign diplomats were all attending today's drill. Reports from Novi Sad's Belgrade Quay on the Danube said that despite the very cold weather a large number of people had gathered to watch the exercise, commanded by the head of the Ground Army HQs, Brig.
