Koštunica: Serbia is disoriented

Opposition Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Kostunica has presented the Principles of the National Policy for the Future of Serbia. The document was introduced in a news conference in Belgrade on Monday. Kostunica – Serbia's prime minister for two terms – said it is aimed at fighting against "the disorientation of Serbia, and for the preservation of Serb statehood at a time when it is jeopardized". "Serbia has a government that was created on a deception of citizens and it is persevering thanks to political bartering, while foreigners and domestic tycoons interfered in its forming. "Serbia is the only country whose authorities have launched a slogan that there is no alternative to the European Union," Kostunica said. "We must restore our faith in Serbia herself and her own forces. We must not rely solely on outside help and expect that others will resolve our problems," Kostunica said. Kostunica also rejected media speculation that the DSS grassroots were dwindling, stating that since the parliamentary elections last year, 3,000 new members had joined the party ranks.
