Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic met on Wednesday with Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Alfredo Mantica. Bogdanovic conveyed Serbia's "principled stand on the deployment of the new civilian mission EULEX in Kosovo", his ministry said in a statement issued in Belgrade this afternoon. Bogdanovic: Principled stand on Kosovo The minister strongly condemned " unacceptable rhetoric of Pristina officials and open threats to the Serb community in Kosovo", and said he expected "more active preventive moves by the international community". "Serbia can accept EULEX's presence in Kosovo only if it is approved by the UN Security Council, and if its acts in keeping with the UNSC Resolution 1244, is status neutral, and does not implement the Ahtisaari plan," Bogdanovic reiterated Belgrade's official position. With this constructive approach to this issue too, Serbia wants to foster stabilization and prosperity in the region, he continued. "Mantica pointed to the high degree of understanding for Serbia's stand and expressed hope for maintaining good bilateral relations," the statement read. He also expressed hope that the UN SC will soon take a decision on this issue acceptable to Serbia, the Ministry for Kosovo said.
