The EU’s decision to send a mission to Kosovo violates its initialed agreement with Serbia, Slobodan Samardzic says. “It is clear that the EU will have to decide whether it wants an agreement with Serbia, or to illegally send a mission to create a false entity called an independent Kosovo,” the Kosovo Minister said. Samardzic: EU mission violates SAA terms He said that, legally speaking, the EU could not sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with Serbia and send its mission to Kosovo to implement the rejected Ahtisaari plan. “All founding acts the EU participates in oblige it to strictly respect international law and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of signatory countries,” Samardzic pointed out. He said that this obligation applied to Serbia as well, unless the EU wished to scrap the agreement in favor of sending an illegal mission to Kosovo. “Serbia will respect every letter of the agreement, but the EU must do the same, and that means that it will have to refrain from sending a mission to the province,” Samardzic underlined. He said that, legally speaking, the EU could not sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with Serbia and send its mission to Kosovo to implement the rejected Ahtisaari plan.
