A Serbian delegation is set to harmonize and draft agreements on airline transport with the U.S. and 13 more countries, it has been announced.

Agreements with 14 countries to expand Air Serbia network

This is a unique opportunity to draft bilateral agreements on airline transport in just five days, Katarina Andrić-Milosavljević of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia told Tanjug.

Headed by Assistant Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zoran Ilić and Directorate representatives, the Serbian delegation has made arrangements for 15 official meetings with representatives of 14 delegations during the ICAN conference which will last from November 17 to 21.

The Serbian delegation will have meetings with delegations of the U.S., Egypt, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Seychelles, Morocco, New Zealand, Pakistan and Vietnam.

Since Air Serbia expressed the wish to introduce flights to these destinations, the Serbian delegation and 14 countries will harmonize and draft agreements on airline transport or sign memorandums of understanding whereby they will define additional possibilities for airline transport on grounds of existing agreements, Andrić-Milosavljević said.

The Serbian delegation will attend ICAN conference this week. The event represents a project of the International Civilian Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Andrić-Milosevljević noted that the project aims to provide a meeting point for representatives of a large number of countries so that they would be able to conduct talks within a short period of time and adjust a number of bilateral, regional or multilateral agreements or arrangements in the civil aviation sector.

On the other hand, by closing a large number of agreements and arrangements, ICAO will also achieve its main goal embodied in the implementation of unified standards and recommended aviation safety practice.
