In this way, they want to draw attention to the problem of climate change and the necessity that something must be done about it.

Activists, who occupied the amphitheaters of the Universities of Vienna, Innsbruck and Salzburg, say that they are part of the international movement "End Fossils: Occupy", which wants to encourage the end of using fossil fuels through occupying institutions.

Also, activists are looking for social and educational equality, as well as a bigger budget for universities.

In Vienna, activists occupied the largest amphitheater of the "C1" University of Vienna in the "Altes AKH" building (Altes AKH, Universität Wien).

During the protest, lectures and working groups on the topic of climate change are held in the amphitheater.

In Innsbruck, the Rectorate of the University tried to talk to the activists in order to determine how long they plan to stay in the amphitheater.

Due to the occupation of the amphitheater, the planned lectures are held in other lecture facilities.

In Salzburg, activists occupied as many as three amphitheatres.
