Borrell: The EU must participate in the discussion on security guarantees

"On Friday, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a draft proposal on security guarantees between Russia and the United States, as well as European NATO members. It is clear that the EU must be an integral part of such talks," Borrell wrote in his blog, TASS reports.

He emphasized that the OSCE offers mechanisms and rules that are still, as he stated, the cornerstone of any engagement with Russia.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs published two draft agreements on security guarantees, which it is asking from the USA and NATO.

Russia has said it wants legally binding guarantees from the United States and NATO that the Alliance will give up any military activity in Eastern Europe and Ukraine.
