JALALABAD Five airport security guards and five Taliban militants were killed after gunmen attacked a U.S. airbase in Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan early on Sunday. The attackers detonated two explosives-packed vehicles outside the airport entrance at approximately 6:00 while several others tried to break into the heavily-guarded base. NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) is scheduled to pull out the majority of its 130,000 forces from Afghanistan by the end of 2014 and hand over responsibility for security in Afghanistan to the Afghan leadership by that time, with only training troops remaining in the war-torn country.
