Kim Jong-un joined his father on a balcony overlooking the square named after his grandfather and founder of North Korea, Kim Il-sung. N. Korea military parades before Kim Jnr. The occasion was the 65th anniversary of the ruling Workers’ Party and Western media were allowed a rare reporting opportunity from Pyongyang. With the parade broadcast live on state television, it also provided North Koreans with the chance to get another good look at the man they assume to be their next leader. Kim Jong-un was recently given key military and civilian posts. Little is known of him except that he was educated in Switzerland and is now thought to be in his late twenties. His father, whose health is said to be frail, also promoted his own sister in what analysts see as an attempt to bolster North Korea’s dynastic rule.
