According to government official Cendana Banandi, 43 people were killed and 50 injured, many of whom were in critical condition. Meanwhile, another passenger train crashed in the city of Solo about four o'clock in the morning, an accident which, according to a witness, left one person dead. The cause of the accident remains unknown for the time being, the most likely reasons for the accident being either a signalling mistake or human error.
