The 55th October Salon will take place from September 20 to November 2 in the new building of the Museum of the City of Belgrade.

Visual arts event October Salon announced

The Salon will showcase the works of around 40 artists from the country and abroad. For the second time since the Salon started accepting international entries, the local participants were selected in a public competition that was open from April 30 through June 1. More than 270 artists from Serbia submitted their entries and 18 have been selected to participate.

The selection process was entrusted to curators of the 55th October Salon Nicolaus Schafhausen, director, and Vanessa Joan Mueller, head of dramaturgy at Vienna's famous exhibition venue Kunsthalle Wien.

Berlin architect Roger Bundschuh will be in charge of the architecture of the display.

The new building of the Museum of the City of Belgrade, the 3,600-square meter former Military Academy built in 1899, provides ideal conditions for an exhibition that combines the present and the past, KCB notes in the release.

The concept of the 55th October Salon "Things that Disappear“ is inspired by the phenomenon of online social networks, particularly the increasingly popular Snapchat communication application that erases all messages just seconds after they are sent.

October Salon is the oldest and most prestigious visual arts event in Serbia. During the six weeks of its duration, it attracts around 50,000 visitors of all generations.
