An athlete from Australia participating in the Student Games in Belgrade has been confirmed as having swine flu. This is according to the Serbian Institute for Public Health’s officials website. Those who have been in contact with the patient are under constant medical supervision, according to the website. Three other likely cases of the flu have also been registered in the country. These are said to be persons with symptoms of the flu who were in close contact with individuals that have fallen ill. These cases, however have yet to be confirmed through a laboratory diagnosis. Of the 14 confirmed cases in Serbia, 12 involve people who recently came to Serbia from a foreign country where the flu was already confirmed—Argentina, Australia, Canada, Great Britain and the U.S. The other two patients are people who were in contact with the Montenegrin case confirmed in that country. The flu has been identified in patients in these cities and towns: Belgrade, Novi Sad, Sombor, Nis, Srbobran and Nova Pazova.
