Republic of Srpska officials say Hague fugitive Stojan Zupljanin was hiding in Russia and then Serbia until the end of 2006. A report from the Republic of Srpska Secretariat for cooperation with the Hague Tribunal for the period April 1 – June 30, 2007, also states that the Bosnia-Herzegovina secret services and Hague Tribunal prosecutors "were fully aware of all operative-tactical measures and operations undertaken by the Republic of Srpska Interior Ministry in their efforts to locate fugitives." "Zupljanin was in Serbia in 2006” It adds that information has been exchanged through regional cooperation, and that there is work under way on locating and arresting Stojan Zupljanin. The report states that the Zupljanin family home in Banja Luka is under constant surveillance, as are several other facilities where either Zupljanin or his accomplices could potentially be located. As commander of the Bosnian Serb police during the war in Bosnia, Zupljanin had operational control over police forces in charge of detention camps housing thousands of Bosniak prisoners in the most horrific conditions, many of whom were later murdered. He is charged with genocide, crimes against humanity, and violations of the rules and customs of war. Along with Ratko Mladic, Radovan Karadzic and Goran Hadzic, Zupljanin remains one of four Hague indictees still at large.
