Driver admits guilt in crash that killed two

Olivari was driving a privately owned bus on a regular line between Belgrade and Split, when the accident happened near the Croatian town of Karlovac.

Jelka Damjanović and Kata Šimulija, both Serbian citizens, died in the crash.

Over forty others, most of them also Serbian nationals, were injured.

Olivari told the newspaper he noticed the highway exit to Karlovac too late, which caused him to drive into the curve speeding, after which the bus hit the highway guard rail and turned over.

Olivari confirmed that he took over driving the bus three hours before the accident, and that he felt tired and contemplated waking up his colleague, but decided to do that after they passed the Karlovac exit.

Croatian police in town has confirmed that they will file criminal charges against the driver, but said they have not yet placed him under arrest.
