Mass grave in Kosovo may contain Serb victims
“I have requested a detailed report on the work underway at the location,” he said, and added the Serb experts were not taking part, although a protocol on cooperation obligated each side to alert the other upon discovery of a mass grave site.“We expect to be invited if the victims in question are Serbs, Romas and other non-Albanians, to undertake the exhumation and identification together with UNMIK,” Odalović said.
Serbian Government Coordinator for the Klina municipality Stojan Tončić told Beta Tuesday the site near the village of Biče likely contained the remains of some 20 Serbs from that village, Klina and Stupelj.
Tončić explained that two human bodies were found on June 28 in a nearby wood, and that the exhumation started after the discovery was reported to the Kosovo Police Service (KPS).
According to Tončić, the Serbs who may be buried in the mass grave went missing during the 1999 war and after the arrival of the international peacekeepers in Kosovo.
