ZAGREB Croatia’s President Ivo Josipovic has expressed concern over denial of the nature and victims of the Ustasha's WWII Jasenovac concentration camp. According to a release issued by his cabinet, Josipovic is especially concerned about the fact that the allegations were made by the head of the Croatian State Archive’s Archbishop Archive. Jasenovac death camp is “symbol of evil” Croatian historian and priest Stjepan Razum said that there was no evidence of mass killings in Jasenovac and that Serbs “made it up”. The release adds that Josipovic has publicly said numerous times that the “Independent State of Croatia was a criminal political creation based on the idea of genocide that was supported by the occupation forces”. “The character of the Ustasha movement was criminal and it was together with its allies, fascists and Nazis, responsible for the forming and running of concentration camps and the biggest of them was Jasenovac as far as the number of victims is concerned,” the Croatian president noted. “Holocaust of the Jews, genocide against Serbs and Roma and horrific crimes against Croats, opponents of the regime, members of the anti-fascist and communist movements, sympathizers of the People’s Liberation Movement and many freedom-loving citizens who stood up to the Ustasha-fascist regime really happened there,” reads the release. Josipovic pointed out that “Jasenovac is a symbol of evil that nobody in the civilized world, including Croatia, must mot ignore or deny”.
