ZAGREB Serbs civilian victims of the war in the 1990s are the only who have not been recognized as such, President of the Serb National Council Milorad Pupovac says. Speaking at a SNV commemoration remembering the victims of Croat operations Storm and Flash and other victims of the war, he stressed that the activities of the Serb community and Minister for Veterans Predrag Mitic should make it possible for the Serb victims finally be given adequate rights, and the fate of the missing to be revealed revealed. Pupovac: Serb victims' status "unrecognized" "Our obligation is to give the victims citizen rights, so the organization of the families of missing called Remembrance Association strives to enable that," he said. To those who complain the Croat victims between 1941 and 1945 are played down or crimes following World War Two justified, Pupovac said the Serbs were too vulnerable from the sufferings of the 1940s and 1990s to do something like that. "We do not wish to use commemorations for political purposes, whether it be desired by individuals from Croatia or Serbia, because the sufferings are terrible in themselves, so there is not need to manipulate the numbers of victims or the people's return," Pupovac noted. The commemorative meetings honoring the victims of Storm and all other victims of war have been held annually for 5 years in all Serb minority councils in districts across Croatia. Officials of the Serb minority councils from Zagreb and other districts, Serb organizations and the Serbian embassy attended the meeting in Zagreb. Milorad Pupovac (FoNet, file) Tanjug
